Tri-Utes are back this 2024! The Southern Ute Indian Tribe is hosting this year’s Tri-Ute Games and is looking for athletes and coaches! Save the date for mid-summer 2024, exact dates will be announced before the end of March. Packet pick-up for coaches and players will be at SunUte Recreation. The Southern Ute Indian Tribe’s Education Department will be taking a group of students to Oceanside CA. at the end of June. The students are hosting an online fund raising to go towards an activity of the student’s choice while we are in CA. Southern Ute Education is accepting nominations for the Elbert J. Floyd Award. Please see the attachment for requirements. Eligible recipients do not need to reside on the Southern Ute Indian Reservation; however, it is asked that they can be available to receive the award in person, which will take place at the Tribal Council Chambers in Ignacio, CO. Submission is to be in writing stating the basis of nomination and returned to the Southern Ute Education Department by 5:00 pm Friday, May 03, 2024. Nominations may be received from any teacher, Tribal member, or community member, and they must be submitted to the Southern Ute Education Department. The Annual Southern Ute Spring Clean-Up Week! April 15-19, 2024 Tribal Members, Tribal Departments, and any tenant of the Southern Ute Indian Housing Authority are eligible for Spring Clean-Up services. Please schedule your clean up with the responsible tribal department. Pick-ups are By Appointment Only. There will be no pickups over the weekend or the week after. Tribal Departments will not pick up for non-tribal tenants living in Tribal Member owned rental homes. All pick-ups must be within the boundaries of the Southern Ute Indian Reservation only. ALL ITEMS MUST BE IN ONE AREA and general trash MUST BE BAGGED FOR PICK UP. No Pickups will be made without prior scheduling with the homeowner or department If you have tires, only 4 tires per household will be picked up. NO EXCEPTIONS. Over the summer, three Southern Ute tribal students participated in the Film Making Workshop hosted by the Education Department, State of Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media, and the Gates Family Foundation. Nate, Elliott, and DJ Hendren worked on creating a film to feature the Tribe’s skate park, from the planning to the outcome for the community. We will be showing the film at the Ignacio High School Auditorium, April 23, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Q & A opportunity. DMV2GO will return to the Southern Ute Indian Reservation! DMV2GO is the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) exciting, new program that aims to help Coloradans who do not normally have easy access to in-office driver license services by bringing the DMV to them. DMV2GO is part of the DMV's commitment to serve all Coloradans. This program gives tribal membership, as well as local community members, a chance to address DMV issues without the required appointment at a DMV office. May 2nd will be the first of three events hosted at the Sky Ute Casino Resort in the John S. Williams Room. The other events will occur on July 10th and September 5th, 2024. Services included are below. DMV2GO accepts cash, credit/debit card, checks, or money orders.
