The Community Resource Office aids the department and community with crime prevention programs like Neighborhood Watch, summer youth programs like Archery Challenge, and community events such as the Easter Egg Hunt and the Halloween Carnival. They assist Ignacio School District, the Southern Ute Indian Academy, Southern Ute Boys and Girls Club, and Head Start with education programs such as Gun Safety, Child Seat Safety, Bullying Prevention, and Internet Safety.
The Community Resource Office assists the schools’ Attendance Officer with truancy prevention and intervention to Native American students. This program works closely with Probation, Wellness Court, and Tribal Social Services. They provide the community with car safety seat inspections, installation, and education by a certified technician. For young drivers, Community Resource Office conducts the Alive at 25 defensive driving program.
