Dr. Stockhausen achieved his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Kentucky in 2011.  Upon graduation he moved to Durango, CO to begin his career and explore the Southwest Colorado terrain.  In 2014 he and his wife, also a Physical Therapist, hit the road as travel physical therapists.  Their explorations took them across the country for nearly eight years highlighted by extended stays in Alaska, California, and Washington state.  He joined our team as our first “in-house physical therapist” in the summer of 2020.  Professionally, he is a certified specialist in orthopedics and has particular interest in athletic injuries as well as chronic pain treatment.  When not in the clinic he can likely be found running or biking on local trails with his family.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do Physical Therapy evaluations typically take?

Comprehensive Physical Therapy evaluations highly depend on the nature of the problem being addressed.  However, most initial visits take 45-60 minutes.

What happens during a Physical Therapy evaluation?

The Therapist will evaluate what is bothering you most, perform some physical testing to best assess your issue, develop a treatment plan and begin a treatment program to help you feel better as soon as possible.

How frequently will I need to come to Physical Therapy?

Again, this is highly dependent on the nature of your injury or issue.  Most often plans of care are 1-2 visits/ week.  Some conditions can be alleviated in just a couple of weeks while others can take longer.

Will Physical Therapy hurt?

The majority of patients will feel less pain at the end of each session.  While it is the goal of every physical therapist to provide the most comfortable care for every patient, some treatment techniques can be uncomfortable.  When this is the case the physical therapist will always utilize every resource available to eliminate that pain prior to ending the session.
