Thanks to a partnership between Pine River Shares, the Ignacio Community Library, and Ignacio Out & Equal Alliance, free food bags will be available throughout the summer for children and youth ages 18 and younger. Program Details June 2 – August 6 Ignacio Community Library • Food bags available every Tuesday - Starting TOMORROW, JUNE 2! • 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM • No cost and no registration required Who Can Participate? 7 events,The Southern Ute Cultural Preservation Department would like to share a reminder about the upcoming Ute & Comanche Youth Camp, taking place June 9-12, 2026. This camp is a great opportunity for Ute and Comanche youth ages 14–17 to spend time on the land, build intertribal relationships, and learn alongside one another in a supportive outdoor setting. As part of the lead-up to the 50th anniversary of the Ute and Comanche Peace Treaty in 2027, youth will participate in activities focused on learning, connection, and shared history. We encourage families who are interested to register by this Friday, May 29, 2026, or reach out for more information. Meals are provided and there is no cost to attend. There will be a spotlight on Resident Alien, which prominently features the Southern Ute Indian Tribe in several episodes. Writer and director Alexandra Lazarovich (Cree) will join us in person for a screening and panel discussion, as well as the show's Special FX / Makeup artist Cayley Giene, who will do a live sfx demonstration. 5 events,The Southern Ute Tribal Credit Committee (“Committee”) is looking for eligible tribal member applicants to serve on the Committee. The appointment is for a three (3) year term. This is a paid Committee: IRS Guidelines and a Criminal Background Check are necessary. The primary purpose of the Committee is to evaluate and render decisions regarding Secured Home Loan applications and monitor and evaluate the Tribal Credit loan programs and make recommendations to Tribal Council. The Committee has scheduled weekly meetings. Interested Tribal Members are asked to submit a letter of interest to the Tribal Credit Committee, PO Box 737 #60, Ignacio, CO 81137, or by email to zvogenthaler@southernute-nsn.gov. The letter should include the full name and contact information of the applicant, along with a detailed explanation of their relevant experience that would aid in making credit decisions, as well as a description of why they would be a good fit for the position. Southern Ute Behavioral Health is offering another round of Mental Health First Aid for adults! This free training is for adults age 18 and up to help learn how to spot signs of mental health challenges in their friends, loved ones, and neighbors, and offer real support. In this training participants learn important information about different kinds of mental health challenges. Learn about signs, symptoms, how to help someone in a mental health crisis, and an action plan for helping people access community resources. Please see the flyer for more details, there will be 8 hours of in person, hands-on instruction, and lunch will be provided.
