Baker, Chairman – 970.563.0100 Summer Begay, Communication Specialist – 970.563.2313 FOR RELEASE: August 26, 2024 Tribal Broadband Modernization Project: Construction Update Weather permitting, the Phase II construction schedule for the foreseeable future is as follows: Where: Crews will be working along the following roads: County Road-316, County Road-315, County Road-318, County Road-516, County Road-518, County Road-514, County Road-515, County Road-222, County Road-334, Sunset Circle, Sunset Meadows Drive, Pow Wow Circle, Ute Road, Bear Dance Road, and Buck Highway. Construction will take place along the edge of the roadways and/or behind the sidewalk. Please see the maps below for more precise locations. What: The broadband project will include trenching, boring, and plowing to install fiber, as well as reclamation and seeding. Construction vehicles and fiber spools will be visible on the edges of roadways. When: Construction is ongoing. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Travel Impact: Parking lanes, road shoulders, sidewalks and alleyways may be temporarily closed during operations. Cloud Southern Ute Indian Reservation – The Southern Ute Indian Tribe is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Council Member, Vice Chairman, and beloved community member, Alex S. Cloud. Cloud was a dedicated Tribal and community leader who made significant contributions to the Southern Ute Indian Tribe throughout his life. As a three-term Tribal Council Member, Cloud also served the community for over 15 years as the head of the Recreation Department. Known for his passion for youth development, Cloud was a mentor and coach to countless young people. He instilled in them the importance of education and hard work, encouraging them to excel in both academics and athletics. Cloud’s legacy of service and dedication to the Southern Ute Indian Tribe will be remembered and cherished by the community. Southern Ute Shared Services would like to share a 2024/2025 Work Plan Update for the Southern Ute Broadband Deployment project.
