The Southern Ute Cultural Center and Museum staff would like to invite you to the grand opening of our new exhibit, Ute Cradleboards & Baskets: Carriers of Life on Thursday, May 23rd from 4 pm – 7 pm at the Southern Ute Cultural Center and Museum. For thousands of years, the Núuchiu (Ute) women have used nature’s resources to create containers of functional works of art that have embraced and nurtured life throughout the Ute lifecycle. This exhibit will feature over 15 cradleboards and a number of medicine baskets and water jugs – highlighting the beauty and complexity of these cultural items throughout history. The Southern Ute Cultural Preservation Department would like to share the Southern Ute Bear Dance celebration flyer. The celebration will begin on May 24, 2024, with the blessing of the Corral and welcoming the SUIMA students to kick-off the Bear Dance.
