SU Cultural Preservation – Book of the Month Club

The Cultural Preservation Department, in collaboration with other Departments, is pleased to announce a book club for Tribal youth 4-12 years of age. Join us at 1:00pm on Friday, February 2, 2024, in the Southern Ute Cultural Center and Museum Library where we will be providing copies of You Hold Me Up by Monique Gray Smith (Cree). For more information and to sign up, please contact NAGPRA Coordinator Trainee, Roshae Weaver at 970-563-2257.  The first Fridays of each month will promote a book for those that participate.

SU DSS – Positive Indian Parenting Class

The Division of Social Services is offering Positive Indian Parenting class in March 2024 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 3pm. This class is free and open to all. It does require an email address, a smart device and a solid internet connection for the three-hour class. SU DSS: Fatherhood is Sacred/Motherhood is Sacred

Southern Ute DSS is bringing in a second class for the Tribal Community! This class, Fatherhood/Motherhood is Sacred class is geared towards Parents and/or family members in the community that would like to engage in a class that discusses cultural preservation while re-vitalizing the sacred roles of Fatherhood and Motherhood. NAFFA or Native American Fatherhood and Families Association along with Founder and President Albert M. Pooley (Hopi/Navajo) has designed this class to emphasize that families are the heart of all cultures. "Our method is to uplift, encourage, assist, and teach. Fulfilling life with hope, gratitude, and understanding has a powerful effect in changing attitudes and behavior. There is no better way. " Classes start January 30, 2024, and will continue through the month of February as stated in the flyer below.  Please call (970) 563-2335 for more information.

SU Education – Oceanside Exploration Trip Sign-Up

The Southern Ute Education Department is recruiting 10 rising 8th graders through high school students for a 5-day trip to Oceanside, California, June 24-28, 2024. The trip will allow Southern Ute Tribal Member youth to explore Growth Fund Properties and discover future career paths. Application Deadline is February 29, 2024, to drop off or email. SunUte – FLC Volleyball Camp Sign-Up
