  • SU Cultural Preservation: Ute & Comanche Youth Camp

    The Southern Ute Cultural Preservation Department would like to share a reminder about the upcoming Ute & Comanche Youth Camp, taking place June 9-12, 2026. This camp is a great opportunity for Ute and Comanche youth ages 14–17 to spend time on the land, build intertribal relationships, and learn alongside one another in a supportive outdoor setting. As part of the lead-up to the 50th anniversary of the Ute and Comanche Peace Treaty in 2027, youth will participate in activities focused on learning, connection, and shared history. Thanks to a partnership between Pine River Shares, the Ignacio Community Library, and Ignacio Out & Equal Alliance, free food bags will be available throughout the summer for children and youth ages 18 and younger.     The Southern Ute Department of Natural Resources, Construction Services, Tribal Housing, Economic Development and Tribal Credit are hosting an Open House June 11th 2026. This event will be held at the multi-purpose facility from 10am – 2pm.   • Native Lens Sympsosium

    The 2026 symposium welcomes film professionals and emerging media makers alike from throughout Indian Country to attend industry-driven sessions, film screenings, networking opportunities, and hands-on workshops. Meals are provided and there is no cost to attend. There will be a spotlight on Resident Alien, which prominently features the Southern Ute Indian Tribe in several episodes. Writer and director Alexandra Lazarovich (Cree) will join us in person for a screening and panel discussion, as well as the show's Special FX / Makeup artist Cayley Giene, who will do a live sfx demonstration.
