Mission

GAP’s mission is to provide the opportunity to the Tribe to build capacity and management capability to implement environmental programs. 


Responsibilities

GAP’s programs include the logistical support for the collection and disposal of household hazardous waste (HHW), provide indoor air quality assessments (radon testing), build capacity to implement various environmental programs, and oversee the implementation of the Brownfields Program. The GAP assists other EPD programs and provides environmental, educational, and public outreach to the Tribal government and membership.

Services Provided to the Tribal Membership

Indoor Air Quality Evaluation

  • Radon testing (usually during winter months)

Hazardous Material Removal and Recycling

  • Remove unwanted/dangerous chemicals and products from Tribal homes (pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, petroleum products, paints, and unknown chemicals).
  • Usually picked up during Fall and Spring clean-up events; Tribal members can also drop off materials at the Utilities Division Transfer Station.

Educational Outreach

  • GAP coordinates public outreach opportunities throughout the year.
  • Kids fair, career fair, etc.

Assistance on Environmental Issues

  • Provide Tribal departments with assistance and trainings on environmental topics
