SUIMA’s upper elementary students are collecting winter clothing for students in the Pine Ridge, South Dakota schools until February 9, 2024. Drop off locations are: The Southern Ute Indian Montessori Academy, Sun Ute Rec. Center, Hall of Warriors in the Leaonard C. Burch Building, Southern Ute Museum, and the Sky Ute Casino. The Wildlife Resource Management Division will be collecting sealed bids from Tribal Members only for (5) Live Bison. They will all be females (3-9 yrs. old) 100% grass fed and are up to date on vaccines. Bids are set at a $500 minimum and must be submitted by January 31st, 2024, by 5:00pm. It does require an email address, a smart device and a solid internet connection for the three-hour class. Southern Ute DSS is bringing in a second class for the Tribal Community! This class, Fatherhood/Motherhood is Sacred class is geared towards Parents and/or family members in the community that would like to engage in a class that discusses cultural preservation while re-vitalizing the sacred roles of Fatherhood and Motherhood. NAFFA or Native American Fatherhood and Families Association along with Founder and President Albert M. Pooley (Hopi/Navajo) has designed this class to emphasize that families are the heart of all cultures. "Our method is to uplift, encourage, assist, and teach. Fulfilling life with hope, gratitude, and understanding has a powerful effect in changing attitudes and behavior. There is no better way.
