Weather Alert: Heavy Rainfall Expected

Significant rainfall is forecasted for Southwest Colorado and the Four Corners region this weekend, October 10–12. The Justice & Regulatory team is actively coordinating with regional partners including Archuleta County, CDOT, and La Plata County to prepare for potential flooding and hazardous road conditions.

Safety Reminders:

– Monitor local weather updates closely.

– Avoid driving through flooded roads—seek alternate routes.

– SUPD and Tribal Rangers are placing warning signs in areas prone to flash flooding.

Flood Preparation Resources: In response to the forecast, the La Plata County Office of Emergency Management, in partnership with Durango Fire & Rescue, Upper Pine River Fire Protection District, and Los Pinos Fire District, is offering free sandbags to the public.
