Description

The Southern Ute Boarding school was built in 1902 and remained in place until 1920. It was turned into the Southern Ute Agency Vocational School in 1930, students actively attended the school through 1981. A comprehensive assessment and documentation of the historic building and murals was completed in 2020. Tribal Council mandated the demolition of the Head Start building in January of 2023. Funding was provided for fiscal year 2024. Construction will start in the summer of 2024.
