With permission from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and Animas-La Plata Association, and City of Durango, Colorado Parks & Wildlife (CPW) is again conducting its annual Lake Nighthorse kokanee salmon spawning operation. This spawning operation is important for fisheries within the Southwest Region and across the State of Colorado.
CPW wants to let the Southern Ute Tribe and its members know about the spawning and fish giveaways. We are inviting Southern Ute Tribal members to share this fish resource. Fish giveaways are scheduled to start at 3 pm on Friday, November 2nd, 9th, and 16th.
The giveaway will be done at the Lake Nighthorse boat ramp and participants should show up earlier than 3pm as it is a first come first serve giveaway. Colorado anglers are required to show their State of Colorado fishing license. Southern Ute Tribal members are required to show either a State of Colorado or Southern Ute Indian Tribe fishing license (Reservation or Brunot). We encourage people to bring a small cooler or similar container in which to transport fish.
